Four Points by Sheraton Chicago O'Hare Airport
Chicago, IL: (Sep-05-07) Roseanne Moten of Bridgeview, a suburban mother, filed a lawsuit against Four Points by Sheraton Chicago O'Hare Airport and others, after her 14-year-old son drowned in 2003. In her lawsuit against the hotel, Moten claimed that hotel staff did not keep the pool clean, and was thus responsible for the wrongful death of her son. Her suit alleged that the water was so murky that rescuers couldn't locate her son, Damarco Alexander, once he sank underwater in the pool's deep end. Her attorneys alleged the hotel hadn't serviced or maintained the filter for years.
Though the hotel did not admit to the allegations or accept any liability, they however, agreed to a settlement to resolve litigation. As part of the settlement agreement reached, Four Points by Sheraton Chicago O'Hare Airport and others agreed to pay Moten $3.1 million. [WQAD NEWS: HOTEL POOL DROWNING]
