Dancers owner Michael Crissman
Lake County, IL: (Sep-05-07) Lake County brought a lawsuit against Michael Crissman, owner of Dancers, a now closed strip tease cabaret, alleging that the facility violated the Lake County Adult Use Ordinance. The ordinance requires adult businesses to close at midnight and not be open on Sundays. Individual viewing booths must be open on one side and in clear view of a store supervisor. Dancers must remain eight feet from customers, and be separated by a three-foot barrier. Dancers are not allowed to strip beyond pasties and thongs.
As part of a negotiated settlement, Lake County Circuit Judge Margaret Mullen stipulated a $135,000 payment by Crissman through his XLP Corp., which includes the Dancers property. The negotiated settlement came in at a considerably lower amount than Mullen set Aug. 30, 2007 for Baby Dolls, the other strip tease cabaret in the county, and Video Magic, an adult business featuring x-rated movies and sex toys. Each were assessed fines of $204,500 by Mullen. [SUN TIMES: ADULT USE ORDINANCE]
