Saint Joseph Medical Center and Dr. Ahsan Niazi
Waukegan, IL: (Sep-06-07) The family of 5-month-old Noah Wilson brought a medical malpractice lawsuit against Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, after the boy died as a result of negligent care. The lawsuit claimed that Noah was admitted to Saint Joseph Medical Center on Sept. 25, 2002, suffering from abdominal pain and dehydration. Dr. Ahsan Niazi was in charge of Noah's care, and failed to take any action in spite of the infant's worsening condition, according to the charges filed against the doctor and the hospital. Noah died the following morning on the way to the operating room after lapsing into septic shock.
In a settlement reached, the family received a $1.6 million judgment, resolving the lawsuit. Sources claim that the settlement is believed to be one of the largest of its kind for a medical malpractice suit in Will County. [DAILY HERALD: MEDICAL MALPRACTICE]
