John Peck Junior
New Haven, CT: (Sep-23-07) A lawsuit was filed against John Peck Junior, a former New Haven lawyer, alleging that he stole $100,000 from a disabled client who won the money in a car accident settlement. Records show that John Peck Junior is already serving a seven-year prison sentence for defrauding four other clients out of $2 million.
In a settlement reached, the New Haven lawyer has been sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to repay the $100,000 that he stole. The new sentence will run concurrent to the previous one, meaning Peck will not serve extra jail time. Peck pleaded no contest in the latest case to stealing the money five years ago from a female client, who received an insurance settlement after suffering a traumatic brain injury in a car accident in 1981. New Haven Superior Court Judge Richard Damiani sentenced the 54-year-old Peck, who has surrendered his license to practice law in Connecticut. [NEWDAY: CLIENT THEFT]
