Bostwick Design Group
Elyria, OH: (Sep-24-07) The county brought a lawsuit against Collins Gordon Bostwick Architects, now known as the Bostwick Design Group, alleging that the company was liable for construction related expenses that resulted after the Justice Center opened in 2004. When the lawsuit was filed, county Administrator Jim Cordes said the county was trying to get money out of a Columbus-based engineering firm that he said made numerous mistakes, including problems with the heating and air conditioning system, the paging systems and others. Bostwick Design Group, a Cleveland architectural firm that designed the county Justice Center, and the county have fought the legal battle since 2005.
In a settlement reached, the two parties agreed to end the dispute after the Bostwick Design Group agreed to a $250,000 payout. The county was seeking $1.2 million. Sources stated that the money will be placed in a county building fund. Bostwick Design Group continues to work with the county on other projects. [CHRONICLE TELEGRAM: JUSTICE CENTER CONSTRUCTION]
