Stolen Idea
Tarrytown, NY: (Sep-26-07) Emisphere Technologies Inc., a Biotechnology company, brought a lawsuit against Eli Lilly and Co. The lawsuit alleged that Eli Lilly, a leading innovation-driven pharmaceutical corporation, tried to swipe Emispher's best idea, a drug carrier compound worth millions or maybe billions of dollars. In 2006, a federal court ordered ruled that Eli Lilly breached a development agreement between the companies by using Emisphere technology for research beyond the scope of their cooperation.
In a settlement reached, Emisphere Technologies accepted $18 million from Eli Lilly and Co. for the pending lawsuit. Terms of the settlement are confidential.
