Campus Point Permits

Fresno, CA: (Sep-25-07) The city of Fresno filed charges against Fresno State's Campus Pointe project, alleging that the university did not provide enough funding for city services and improvements needed by Campus Pointe, a $167 million project slated to include apartments, offices and stores. The lawsuit claimed the project near the Fresno State campus should be subject to city oversight on things such as building permits and zoning.

In a settlement reached, city officials claimed that it had removed a significant hurdle facing Fresno State's Campus Pointe project. The settlement requires Campus Pointe developer Ed Kashian to pay fees for the services and improvements and cedes control over building permits to the university system. The exact amount that Kashian will have to pay won't be calculated until he submits detailed plans for the project, but city officials have estimated the fees could total nearly $2 million.
