Lead Paint Poisoning

Albany, NY: (Oct-18-07) The family of three children, Jasmine, 17; Tina, 15, and Juan, 14, brought a lawsuit against Sunanda and Ajay Sanghi, and brothers Amarjit and Rajinder Narang, landowners, alleging that they suffered elevated lead levels after living in apartments on Clinton Avenue, Lexington Avenue, Second Avenue, and Third Street. The suit stated that the teenagers were exposed to lead based paint during the 1990s in several Albany apartments owned by two different landlords. Their mother, Mary Vasquez claimed that the three have learning disabilities likely caused by their exposure to lead dust from peeling and chipped paint in the apartments. Lead is known to cause developmental problems in young children. As part of a settlement reached, the two landlords, Sunanda and Ajay Sanghi, and Amarjit and Rajinder Narang agreed to pay $2.5 million to resolve allegations. [TIMES UNION: LEAD PAINT]
