Resignation Severance

Duval County, FL: (Oct-17-07) Dr. Joseph Wise brought charges against the Duval County School Board, over claims regarding his resignation from the post of superintendent. Reports showed that at the recommendation of their lawyer, Duval County School Board members voted unanimously to accept Dr. Wise's resignation and agreed to pay him a year's salary, benefits and unused sick time. Under the deal, sources estimate that Wise stands to receive $275,000 from his employer. Dr. Wise's called for the resignation of Board member Brenda Priestly-Jackson, alleging that she used the board for her family's own needs and doesn't live in the district; Priestly-Jackson says she has no plans to resign. The search in 2005 to find Dr. Wise cost the district $53,000. Board members say this time; it's not guaranteed that they will look outside for a replacement. [FOX NEWS: SUPERINTENDENT SEVERANCE]
