Police Impersonation

San Francisco, CA: (Oct-22-07) Elsa Seward, a 69-year-old Berkeley resident and a San Francisco institutional police sergeant brought a lawsuit against the city, alleging that two police officers unfairly targeted her because of her age, gender, and nationality. The suit was brought against the Kensington Police Department and Sgt. Hussain Khan and Officer John Ty, after Seward was arrested on suspicion of impersonating a police officer outside her home in October 2006. Seward accused the officers of violating her civil rights, discrimination and battery. As part of a settlement reached, Elsa Seward will receive $47,000, ending the lawsuit.
