British Military Injuries

Washington, DC: (Oct-25-07) Three British military policemen and their Kuwaiti-born interpreter brought charges against the US Military, alleging that they suffered severe and multiple injuries when their Land Rover was struck by a US lorry. Records show that the four claimants, Jane McLauchlan, James Rogerson, Stephen Smith, and Khalid Allahou, the interpreter, suffered in the accident.

As part of a settlement reached, three of the men won compensation from the US army in the first legal claim made by allied troops injured in a non-combat situation. The US military agreed to pay the four a total of $650,000 to resolve the allegations and resulting litigation. It is conjectured that the settlement potentially opens the way to other similar claims, although it will not help allied soldiers accidentally killed by US forces during combat. [MSNBC: SUV CRASH]
