Cyclist Injury

Portland, OR: (Oct-29-07) Gary Dunkley, a cyclist, brought charges against the city of Portland, alleging that he sustained serious injuries because of the city's negligence. The suit claimed that the city forgot to change a sewer grate when it created a bike lane in Southwest Portland, causing the cyclist to hit the asphalt. Dunkley stated that the sewer grate accidentally set a trap that he fell into. Reports show that Dunkley endured 60 stitches to the head, a concussion, memory loss and double vision. As part of a settlement reached, the city agreed to pay cyclist Gary Dunkley $100,000, resolving the personal injury lawsuit. [KGW NEWS: CYCLIST INJURY]
