School Bus Fire
Grand Coulee, WA: (Oct-31-07) The Grand Coulee Dam School District brought charges against Travelers Insurance Company, its insurance carrier, over the cost of six buses that were destroyed in an early September 2007 fire.
As part of a settlement reached, sources close to the case stated that Travelers Insurance Company going to pay the Grand Coulee Dam School District a little over $78,000 for the six buses. Earlier, district officials claimed that the settlement would be about $101,000, but the district hadn't deleted the amount for the driver education car and a trailer parked next to the building. Those two losses amounted to $22,966 of the total loss. As per the current deal, the district will get $35,815 for a 2005 20-passenger bus, and $34,356, for a 12-passenger wheelchair-lift bus.
