Court Parking
Nassau County, NY: (Nov-01-07) The Court Officers Benevolent Association of Nassau County (COBANC) brought charges against Nassau County and the state's Office of Court Administration, alleging that the county misappropriated parking spaces at the State Supreme Court Building. Records show that Mineola Village filed its separate law suit after COBANC filed its action. It alleged that Nassau had violated an earlier court sanctioned agreement to maintain enough parking in the area.
As part of a settlement reached, the dispute between Nassau County, court employees and Mineola Village was resolved after the county agreed to pay $50,000 to Mineola. Further, as part of the deal, the county will be allowed to move 180 probation department employees from 101 County Seat Drive to mobile buildings on the court complex parking lot serving 400 Old Country Rd. Sources close to the case stated that the agreement leaves the public with 320 fewer open parking spaces in lots at the State Supreme Court Building. [NEWSDAY: PARKING DISPUTE]
