Elderly Motorist

Los Angeles, CA: (Nov-03-07) The family of Glenn Garvin, a Thousand Oaks dental surgeon, brought a wrongful death lawsuit against Ventura County, after the 49-year-old endodontist was killed in 2006 by an elderly motorist. The suit stated that Garvin was riding a bicycle North on Westlake Boulevard when a Lexus that was being driven by Norma Seigel, 82, struck him from behind. It was alleged that Seigel had been advised a month earlier that she should schedule surgery to have cataracts removed. As part of a settlement reached, Garvin's wife and two teenage sons will receive a $12.5 million payout ordered by a Ventura County jury. [LOS ANGELES TIMES: CYCLING ACCIDENT]
