Game Vendor
Bergen County, NJ: (Nov-06-07) The family of Antonia Verni of Cliffside Park, brought a lawsuit against Aramark, a beer vendor at the stadium where the Giants football team was playing, after Daniel Lorenzo, an intoxicated Giants fan, lost control of his pickup truck and crashed into the Verni family's Toyota. Records show that the crash left the then 2-year-old Bergen County girl paralyzed.
In 2005, a Bergen County jury found that Aramark was liable for serving Lorenzo, and awarded the girl $105 million in damages. But an appeals court eventually nullified the verdict, and ordered a new trial. In a recent development in the case, sources close to the case stated that the lawsuit has ended in a confidential settlement. Though the amount was not specified, the money will allow her family to purchase a handicapped-accessible home and skilled nurses for Antonia. The girl, who is now ten-years-old, attends public school but cannot walk or breathe on her own. [STAR LEDGER: INTOXICATED FAN]
