Landlord Discrimination
Phoenix, AZ: (Nov-29-07) Velvie Green, president of Glendale Community College and her husband, Herman, brought charges against real estate agent June Lamb, her husband, Gayle Norman Land, and the Goodyear-based brokerage firm Lamb works for, Keller Williams Professional Partners, alleging that they faced housing discrimination. The suit claimed that Lamb represented the owner of a Peoria townhouse who allegedly refused to rent the property to the Greens based on their African-American race.
As part of a settlement reached, Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard stated for the record that the couple will receive a $55,000 payout, resolving the housing discrimination claim. Lamb, Land, and Keller Williams Professional Partners, were ordered to pay the Greens $30,000. The landlord of the Peoria townhouse, Stanislawa Barbara Ogorzaly, was ordered to pay the Greens $25,000. [PHOENIX BUSINESS JOURNAL: LANDLORD DISCRIMINATION]
