School Construction Delays
Princeton, NJ: (Dec-02-07) PJM Mechanical Contractors Inc. of Trenton, and Fletcher-Harlee, of Fort Washington, PA, two contracting companies, brought charges against the Princeton Regional School District, alleging breach of contract. PJM Mechanical Contractors was hired as a plumbing, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning contractor for several schools, and was sued over costs incurred as a result of delays and resequenced work. Records stated that Fletcher-Harlee, a general construction contractor for Community Park and Johnson Park Elementary Schools, sued for an unpaid contract balance, disputed change orders for work and costs as a result of delays.
As part of a settlement reached, the Princeton Regional School Board agreed to pay a total $770,000 to the two companies to resolve allegations. PJM Mechanical Contractors will be paid $270,000, and Fletcher-Harlee will be paid $500,000. [THE TIMES: CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT]
