Contractor Fraud
This is a settlement for the Commercial lawsuit.
Teton County, WY: (Dec-07-07) Brad Gamble, a valley homeowner, brought a
lawsuit against Jeff Overton, a contractor, alleging that the contractor
defrauded and overcharged him millions of dollars to remodel his home. The
original suit, filed in US District Court for Wyoming, claimed $1.06 million
and punitive damages, stating that Overton mismanaged the remodeling of his
home and the construction of a guest house in the John Dodge subdivision on
Moose-Wilson Road. Sources claimed that the project, which has cost Gamble
about $12 million, remains uncompleted after more then three years of
construction. As part of a settlement reached, Overton agreed to pay Gamble
$750,000 to resolve litigation. It is the second time in less than a month
that Overton has lost a major court proceeding. Records state that the
Wyoming Supreme Court upheld a $36,600 fine levied against the contractor
for his role in the construction of a series of unpermitted additions to a
home in the Owl Creek subdivision near Jackson Hole Airport.
