Traffic Signal

Lincoln, NE: (Dec-13-07) Gail Fickle, the mother of Jacob Wagner, brought a lawsuit against the state of Nebraska, alleging that the state failed to repair a faulty signal at a highway intersection near Schuyler, despite complaints it was not working. Sources stated that two traffic signals, one for southbound traffic, the other for westbound, each flashed green lights before Wagner's car was struck by a semitrailer, leaving him brain dead and visually impaired, as well as suffering from other injuries. As part of a settlement reached, the state agreed to a nearly $10 million payout to resolve the personal injury suit. Sources close to the case stated that the $3.5 million the district court originally awarded to Fickle wasn't enough to cover expenses for her injured son. [NEBRASKA TV NEWS: TRAFFIC ACCIDENT]

I was coming down a hill in Washington County in Nebraska at normal to slow speeds. At the bottom of the hill was a sharp curve that trailed off to a steep embankment. Despite attempts to keep from going over the side my truck continued to slide on the uncleared road over the edge which then continued to roll several times totaling the truck. Weather conditions were dry and in the middle of the day and clear.
After talking with the neighbors these occurrences happen quite frequently and yet no guard rails have been installed.
This is a well know curve by the locals as "dead mans curve".
