Manufacturing Protocol
Bismarck, ND: (Dec-18-07) The US Justice Department brought charges against Sioux Manufacturing Corp., alleging that the Spirit Lake tribe business did not follow specifications in making Kevlar cloth material for helmets. Sources stated that Kevlar is a protective synthetic fiber, which is used in helmets and body armor. The Fort Totten based company run on the Spirit Lake Sioux reservation denied the allegations. The suit, filed by two former company employees, claimed that they had knowledge of the alleged wrongdoing.
As part of a settlement reached, the business agreed to pay $1.9 million to resolve claims. The two employees stand to receive $406,350 as their share of the settlement. A Justice Department statement revealed that the cloth from Sioux Manufacturing underwent ballistics safety tests and passed all of them. [KXMB NEWS: KEVLAR PROTOCOL]
