St. Louis, MO: (Dec-19-07) Federal agencies brought lawsuits against Internet companies Microsoft, Google and Yahoo, alleging that the companies promoted illegal gambling. In settlements reached with the agencies, sources close to the case revealed that the companies have agreed to a total payout of $31.5 million to resolve claims. Of the consolidated figure, Microsoft will pay $21 million. Company spokespersons denied allegations that between 1997 and June 2007, the company received payments from online gambling businesses for advertising online gambling.
