Phoenix, AZ: (Dec-26-07) The family of H.K. Covel, including son country star Toby Keith, brought a wrongful death lawsuit against Rodriguez Transportes, after Covel died in a road accident. The suit claimed that while Covel was driving on Interstate 35 in Oklahoma, his truck was bumped by another vehicle causing it to cross the center median, where it was hit by a charter bus carrying 21 passengers. The bus, owned by Rodriguez Transportes, reportedly was in urgent need of brake repairs. As part of a settlement reached between the two parties, a jury ruled unanimously against the owners of the bus, Rodriguez Transportes, and the Republic Western Insurance Co. of Arizona, ordering them to pay the family $2.8 million in damages to resolve the wrongful death lawsuit.
