Advertised Price

San Mateo, CA: (Dec-27-07) Four California counties brought charges against Walgreens, alleging that the Illinois-based drug chain overcharged customers at its stores. The suit, filed by Santa Clara, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz and San Mateo, claimed that customers were not being charged the lowest advertised prices. The suit stemmed from investigations conducted in 2004 that revealed that routine inspections of Walgreens price scanners found that customers sometimes were not given the advertised sale price or were charged more than the posted shelf price for an item.

As part of a settlement reached, Walgreens agreed to pay $767,000 to the four California counties to settle claims. Company officials stated that in agreeing to settle, the company did not agree to any wrongdoing. [KSBY NEWS: WALGREENS PRICES]
