Drowned Teenager
St. Louis, MO: (Jan-04-08) Parents of one of five children who drowned in a Missouri state park during a 2006 church outing, brought lawsuits against Joyce Meyer Ministries and its outreach arm, the St. Louis Dream Center. Sources close the case revealed that Angela Washington and Youree Hall, the parents of 16-year-old DeAndre Sherman, one of the five that drowned, had reached a confidential payout and had agreed to drop claims against the ministry and its associated groups. Records stated that Sherman and the other four youngsters drowned in the Meramec River on July 9, 2006, during a church outing at Castlewood State Park in west St. Louis County. Joyce Meyer Ministries stated that they are seeking reimbursement from the state, alleging its failure to warn swimmers of the dangers at Castlewood contributed to the deaths.
