Motorcycle Accident
Dover, PA: (Jan-23-08) Rhonda Mann brought a wrongful death lawsuit against Matthew Miller and M.A. Miller Farms of Dover, after a fatal 2006 traffic crash caused the death of 51-year-old husband Keith Mann. The suit stated that Miller, who was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash, was glancing at his nearby cornfield and returned his attention to the road about the time his pickup truck hit the back of Mann's motorcycle. Mann had slowed in traffic to make a left turn into his driveway. Records show that Miller pleaded no contest in New Philadelphia Municipal Court to a misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter as a result of the crash. He received a jail term, house arrest, and a fine.
As part of a settlement reached in Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court at New Philadelphia, Miller agreed to a $50,000 judgment. Miller's insurer, Westfield Insurance, also will pay $250,000 in various installments until 2020. [TIMES REPORTER: FATAL ACCIDENT]
