Technician Whistleblower
Salem, NJ: (Feb-13-08) Jack Seddon, a former technician at DuPont Chambers Works, brought a whistleblower lawsuit against the company, alleging it had public safety hazards at its facility. The suit claimed that DuPont systematically retaliated against the 52-year-old Seddon after he raised objections to potential public safety hazards at the Chambers Works in Deepwater. As part of a settlement reached following a four-week trial in state Superior Court in Salem, a civil court jury awarded the employee $1.224 million. The six-person jury awarded him $724,000 in compensatory damages and $500,000 in punitive damages. DuPont Chambers Works Spokesman Bob Nelson said that DuPont is currently looking into its options of an appeal. He claimed that Seddon's allegations were baseless and had no merit.
