School Misrepresentation
Harrisburg, PA: (Feb-19-08) The Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office brought charges against Lehigh Valley College, a for-profit college near Allentown that plans to close soon, alleging that it violated consumer protection laws. The suit claimed that Lehigh Valley College misrepresented information about student loans, job placement, and the ability to transfer credits elsewhere. In its defense, the college stated that it didn't break any laws and it cooperated with the investigation. Sources close to the case stated that as part of a settlement reached between the two parties, the college's owners signed an agreement in which the owners agreed to pay $200,000 to settle the allegations. College officials said that the college had announced it planned to close by the end of 2009. It was formerly known as the Allentown Business School.

So I applied for the debt relief in Oct 2022 and still haven't heard anything and AES has been charging me since before the pause on student loan payments came to an end, incurring more interest and added fees for non payment!
The other issue is my loans changed the school name from NEC (National Education Center - ABS (Allentown Business School) to Lehigh Valley College!!! I never attended Lehigh Valley College, they took over after I graduated from ABS! I was 20 yrs old, single mom of 1 and they screwed me over with loans! I was told at least 3xs during my time there that my grants didn't come thru on time and that I needed to take out a loan in order to start the new semester and when my grants came through they'd pay off the loans, that never happened! I was young, vulnerable and didn't realize the issue till years later, due to not finding a job after I graduated, I couldn't pay the loans, so I kept asking for a forbearance/hardship. Then when I could start paying something, I worked out an amount I could afford, never looking at my financial responsibilities, until years later.
How could the loan companies changed my school, it shouldn't of mattered that Lehigh Valley College bought out ABS, I graduated from NEC-ABS, not Lehigh Valley College! This is so damn shady! Why is nothing being done about it! People are suffering financially because the school(s) defrauded and mislead young vulnerable adults, lying about their financial situations and promising them things that never happened, such as job placement, transferring of credits and so forth!!!!

I enrolled in 2001-2003. Is there currently any relief available for student debt from ABS. I was young and desperate not realizing that I had more than 5 loans. I found this out when the banks were reaching out to me asking for payments. Wells Fargo was one of them. I assumed financial aid would cover the tuition since I had 4 children at the time. Not one time I was told that I would be paying out of pocket

I also went to ABS aka Lehigh Valley College in 2002 to 2003. I was never contacted about the lawsuit or to participate in it to submit my claim as well. I would have like to be and see if there is any kind of payment of money they DO owe me back for wasting my time there. I am still paying student loans to this day and it is so hard to get by and live. Private loan and federal loan I have. Wishing I would have looked at other schools slot harder and did my own research about this place and loans. Especially private loans. If you have any information on how my loans can be discharged concerning this valid complaint please contact me at my email address information I provided.
