Celebrity Car Crash
This is a settlement for the Car Accidents (National) lawsuit.
Hollywood, CA: (Feb-23-08) Raymundo Ortega, a busboy, brought a civil lawsuit against Lindsay Lohan, over a 2005 car accident. In his lawsuit, Ortega claimed Lohan was negligent when her car collided with his van after the actress left The Ivy. He also claimed the actress was underage at the time of the accident and was under the influence of alcohol. Records show that following the original filing of his lawsuit, Lohan fired back with her own countersuit, seeking $75,000 from Ortega, claiming he and several unnamed defendants were the ones responsible for the October 2005 crash. She stated that Ortega's allegations were nothing more than an attempt to extort money from a celebrity by making false and scurrilous allegations in a complaint.
The two parties reached a settlement agreement, and the dispute had been resolved with an undisclosed agreement. Legal counsel for the 21-year-old starlet pointed to the police report taken at the scene, which stated that Lohan had not been drinking and there were no signs of intoxication at the time of the incident.
