Country Singer Contract
This is a settlement for the Commercial lawsuit.
Roanoke Rapids, NC: (Mar-02-08) Randy Parton, a noted country singer, brought charges against the city of Roanoke Rapids, over a contract dispute. At the crux of the suit was a contract that would have paid Parton $1.25 million over five years even though city leaders have banned him from the theater that once bore his name. Records show that city officials recruited Parton to perform at the theater, the anchor of a planned entertainment complex. Soon after, officials claimed that the city booted him from the job amid poor ticket sales, alleging that he misused city money and accusations that he showed up to work drunk. In a recent development in the case, both parties reached a settlement, in which the city of Roanoke Rapids will pay up to $750,000 to resolve the contract dispute with Parton. As per the terms of the agreement, the city will give Parton $546,986, as well as up to $203,013 in three bank accounts that were in his name.
