Bareback Artist

Chesterfield, MO: (Mar-08-08) Stephen Murmer, a Chesterfield teacher, brought a lawsuit against Chesterfield schools alleging that he was wrongly fired for making paintings with his private parts. Murmer, also known as "Stan the Butt Painter," stated that his civil rights were violated when he faced unlawful termination because of his creative expression.

The suit stated that Chesterfield schools ousted Murmer in 2007 after video surfaced of the former Monacan high school art teacher painting pictures with his backside. Murmur reacted with an ACLU filed lawsuit, stating that his firing was a violation of his first amendment rights. One of his latest paintings depicts a quote from Chesterfield schools about his firing. He claimed that he went to great lengths to keep his art separate from his teaching. As a butt printing artist he uses the pseudonym 'Stan' Murmer and always appears in disguise to promote his art.

As part of a settlement reached in the controversial lawsuit, sources on both sides stated that the parties resolved the dispute with Chesterfield schools paying out $65,000. Following the signing of the deal, Murmer said that it was never about the money, but about being reinstated. [INRICH: FIRED ART TEACHER SETTLES SUIT]
