Swastikas and Nooses
Dallas, TX: (Mar-10-08) A federal lawsuit was brought against Allied Aviation, alleging racial discrimination. Allied Aviation is a company that fuels the airplanes at DFW, Love Field and 22 other airports across the country. The suit claimed that 15 current and former employees say executives of Allied Aviation allowed nooses to be hung in the company's buildings, Swastikas were found on luggage and fuel carts, and racial cartoons were reported to federal officials. The employees alleged that after complaints were filed, the hostile work environment continued.
Sources stated that the parties had reached a settlement in the case, in which both sides agreed to dismiss the case. The deal was the largest amount of money ever awarded in the history of Dallas' Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The company stated that the settlement was not an admission of liability, but was an effort to avoid the costs and risks of litigation. [CBS 11 TV: RACIAL DISCRIMINATION LAWSUIT SETTLED]
