Airplane Problems
Charlotte, NC: (Mar-10-08) SAS Group, a Swedish airline, brought a lawsuit against Goodrich Corp. and Bombardier Aerospace, over problems related to the Dash aircraft. The suit was filed after three Bombardier-built Dash planes operated by SAS had to make emergency landings in mid 2007, when the landing gear on the aircraft failed to work correctly. The suit named Charlotte-based Goodrich, as it provided the landing gear. Goodrich is a global supplier of systems and services to the aerospace and defense industries.
In a recent development, the airline announced that it has reached a settlement agreement with Goodrich Corp. and Bombardier Aerospace, in which it will receive $163 million. Additionally, company sources stated that though all the details of the agreement have not been disclosed, it includes cash and discounts on future aircraft orders. As part of the settlement agreement, SAS has ordered at least 27 aircraft from Canada-based Bombardier that will have landing gear provided by Goodrich.
