Police Assault

San Francisco, CA: (Mar-12-08) Kelly Medora, a New York resident and preschool teacher, brought a claim against the city of San Francisco, after she suffered a broken arm in an altercation with a San Francisco police officer. The suit claimed that Medora and a friend were trying to hail a cab when a police officer began screaming at them for no apparent reason. They reported the misdemeanor to another officer nearby, leading the officer who misbehaved to take hold of Medora's hand. She accused the officer of grabbing and twisting her arm, subsequently breaking it.

In a recent development in the case, sources stated that the two sides reached a settlement, in which Medora will receive a $235,000 payout to resolve her suit for alleged unlawful and unconstitutional actions after the incident in North Beach.
