Website Sales
Kennewick, WA: (Mar-13-08) Over 50 people brought complaints against Teryl Cooper's website, Storybook Lane, an online store, alleging that they ordered children's furniture and accessories from the website, but never received the merchandise. The suit, which was filed following complaints lodged with the Washington Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau, claimed that Cooper did not respond to their inquiries or refund their money. Sources stated that Cooper's website lists rave reviews of her business, but several people across the nation stated that the business was a hoax.
Sources stated that the parties had reached a settlement agreement in the case, in which Cooper agreed to pay $6,000 in legal fees and $60,000 in civil penalties to the Attorney General's office. The Washington State Attorney General's Office said that consumers should be vigilant when online shopping, and do so only after they've conducted some searches on the business. It stated that consumers should contact the Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau with complaints so that they can track patterns and hold business owners accountable.
