Rape Goes Uninvestigated

Albuquerque, NM: (Mar-21-08) A woman brought charges against the city of Albuquerque, alleging that a police officer failed to investigate an alleged rape. The woman stated that she was raped in 2003 while working at the Gin Mill Restaurant, and that police failed to sufficiently investigate the crime.

A jury found that police neglected to investigate a rape claim there five months earlier, and therefore was partially at fault. The jury awarded the woman hundreds of thousands to resolve allegations. City sources stated that under the verdict rendered, the city will pay nearly $200,000 to the woman.
