Foul Mouthed Defendant Fined
Philadelphia, PA: (Apr-04-08) Charges were brought against Aaron Wider, a mortgage company owner from Long Island, NY, and his lawyer Joseph Ziccardi of Chicago, alleging misconduct in the courtroom during a civil lawsuit. Records of the proceedings show that Wider used expletives during his deposition some 73 times, shocking US District Court Judge Eduardo Robreno, who stated that he had never come across such a situation in nearly three decades in the legal profession. The expletives were used against opposing Counsel Robert Bodzin of Philadelphia.
Sources close to the case stated that as part of a settlement in the case, the federal judge fined the foul-mouthed CEO and his lawyer $29,323. Robreno ordered the fines in February 2008, and further sanctioned Wider's attorney, Joseph Ziccardi of Chicago, for not restraining his client. [THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER: DEPOSED, NOT COMPOSED
