Deceptive Business Tactics
This is a settlement for the Commercial lawsuit.
Denver, CO: (Apr-11-08) A class action lawsuit was brought against eWork Markets Inc., a defunct Englewood business-leads service, alleging that the company and its parent San Francisco eWork Inc., oversaw a web-based referral service that made promises it was unable to keep. The suit stated that the company promised job bids for small business contractors at the cost of a few thousand dollars and a cut of the contractors' winnings. Records show that eWork Markets shut down in November 2007, following numerous complaints that it failed to deliver what it promised and that it didn't refund money to its customers for its failed services.
Sources stated that in a recent development, a settlement has been reached in the case and that as a result of that, close to 6,900 small businesses nationwide will be notified that they are part of a class action lawsuit settlement from the company. Court documents reveal that the assets of eWork Inc. and its subsidiary, eWork Markets, have been sold, and that a new software business is using the eWork Inc. name. Officials said that eWork Markets and its previous business that was known as ProSavvy Inc. were companies that generated scores of complaints to the Denver-Boulder Better Business Bureau since 2002.
