Racial and Age Discrimination
Decatur, OH: (Apr-16-08) The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission brought a lawsuit against Renhill Services Inc., an OH staffing firm, alleging that its Fort Wayne and Decatur offices failed to refer blacks, and people older than 40, for job openings. The suit further stated that Renhill destroyed employment applications and retaliated against employees who objected to the discriminatory practices. Current records indicate that the Fort Wayne office is located at 4105 W. Jefferson Blvd, and the Decatur office has since shut down. Renhill now operates three offices in Fort Wayne, Perrysburg and greater Cleveland.
In a recent development in the case, Commission officials claimed that the company agreed to settle the allegations with a $580,000 payout. Additionally, the company will also pay up to $5,000 more in settlement administrative expenses. Spokespersons for the Perrysburg, OH, based company stated that the settlement was a decision the company took on the advice of its insurance company, who wished to avoid costs associated with prolonged litigation.
