Hard Rock Hotel Plans
Santa Ana, CA: (Apr-17-08) An environmental lawsuit was brought against Santa Ana-based Nexus Cos., the developer of the proposed Hard Rock Hotel in Palm Springs, alleging that the construction posed a threat to the environment. The Committee for Better Community Planning stated that they agreed to approve a settlement with Nexus Cos., after the company agreed to make a $35,000 donation to the Riverside Land Conservancy, which purchases land to preserve it. Additionally, as part of the agreement, the city of Palm Springs has also agreed to require any future projects in the same region of the city, dubbed Section 14, to provide their own environmental impact reviews. Sources stated that the developers of the Hard Rock Hotel won't need to submit a new environmental impact review or make changes to the project as a result of the settlement, though minor alterations would be warranted.
