Fatal Road Construction
This is a settlement for the Car Accidents (National) lawsuit.
Kansas City, MO: (Apr-25-08) The families of three Kansas City residents brought wrongful death lawsuits against Pro Logistics and two subsidiary firms, Logistics Insights Corp. and Central Transport Inc., all of Warren, MI, after the three died in a 2006 wreck on Interstate 70 in Callaway County. Records of the crash show that Beverly Garrett, 57, Beulah Hunter, 94, Elois Jeans, 81, and Anita Gibbs, 55, died in the Jun. 1, 2006, crash, while they were on way to a 50th wedding anniversary celebration in Kankakee, IL. The deceased were driving in a Ford Five Hundred.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol records showed that at the time that truck driver George Albright, 63, of Clarksville, TN, was eastbound in a tractor-trailer that failed to yield to traffic that had stopped for a wreck about 30 miles east of Columbia. Following that the tractor-trailer slammed into a line of cars, breaking through median cables and crossed into the westbound lanes. Passengers in four other cars were injured. Court papers indicate that Albright faces four counts of second-degree involuntary manslaughter in Boone County. His trial is scheduled for July 08.
As part of a settlement reached in the case, sources stated that Pro Logistics and two subsidiary firms, Logistics Insights Corp. and Central Transport Inc., will pay an $18 million settlement to resolve the wrongful death lawsuit. [COLUMBIA TRIBUNE: $18 MILLION SETTLEMENT IN FATAL CRASH]
