Nintendo Control
This is a settlement for the Trademark, Copyright, Patent lawsuit.
Seattle, WA: (May-15-08) Anascape Ltd., of Tyler, TX, brought a lawsuit against Nintendo of America and Microsoft Corp., claiming that there were several patents that they infringed upon, related to game controllers. Court papers reveal that Anascape settled with Microsoft early in May 2008, though the terms of the agreement were not made public. In a recent announcement, company officials said that Nintendo of America lost the patent fight with Anascape, agreeing to pay the TX company $21 million to resolve allegations.
The settlement came after a two-week trial, with a jury awarding Anascape $21 million in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in Lufkin. The jury's verdict ruled that Nintendo controllers for the GameCube, GameCube Wavebird, Wii Classic and Wii remote infringed on Anascape's patents. Nintendo officials said they will appeal and that they expect the dollar amount of the verdict to be reduced. [PUGET SOUND BUSINESS JOURNAL: NINTENDO LOSES PATENT FIGHT IN TEXAS]
