Grave Desecration

West Palm Beach, FL: (May-16-08) Several families brought charges against Menorah Gardens, a West Palm Beach cemetery and Houston-based Service Corporation International, alleging that cemetery managers oversold and misplaced plots, and dug up and scattered remains to make room for others. Court records show that the cemetery accused of desecrating graves and mishandling burials, agreed to resolve the allegations by entering into a settlement agreement, which is said to cost an estimated $100 million.

As part of the settlement, the facility has been renamed Star of David Cemetery of the Palm Beaches, in a rededication ceremony. Additionally, the plaintiffs will share about $40 million of the settlement, the amount remaining after payments to lawyers, whistle-blowers and about a dozen families who sued separately. Sources stated that the claimants will receive compensation based on their individual cases. [MIAMI HERALD: CEMETERY ACCUSED OF DESECRATING GRAVES IS REDEDICATED]

Inglewood Cemetery in Inglewood, CA is utilizing the cemetery for overflow parking for patrons of THE FORUM. This is a disgrace. There are stipulated hours of operation. Those of us who have loved ones buried there cannot visit "after hours." However, the cemetery opens after hours to provide parking for THE FORUM.
