Carson Nugget
Carson City, NV: (May-19-08) The Carson Nugget brought charges against the city of Carson, over a street abandonment dispute. The dispute stemmed from the city's trying to charge the casino for sections of Plaza Street and Spear Street bought in the 1970s and early 1980s. A court ruling sided with the casino, ordering the city to pay the Nugget over $300,000 to resolve litigation.
Under the terms of the settlement agreement, Carson City will fund a $50,000 study of downtown redevelopment and the Carson Nugget's place in it. The purpose of the investigation, to be performed by Nevada-based Applied Analysis will be to focus on expansion of the Nugget, while others will consider restaurants, shops, housing and entertainment venues elsewhere in the area.
