General Electric Co. and SABIC Innovative Plastics
This is a settlement for the Trademark, Copyright, Patent lawsuit.
Bryan, TX: (May-23-08) The Texas A&M University System brought charges against General Electric Co. and SABIC Innovative Plastics, alleging that the two companies used the university's patented research without obtaining a license to do so. The dispute stemmed from the use of a scratch-resistant polymer developed by A&M researchers and patented by the Texas A&M System. The suit alleged that the two companies used the polymer without authorization, thereby infringing on the university's intellectual property. Sources stated that the two sides reached a settlement agreement in the dispute, in which General Electric Co. and SABIC Innovative Plastics agreed to pay the university $3 million, resolving the intellectual property suit.
