Lincoln, NE: (May-27-08) A woman, identified in court documents as "Jane Roe", brought a lawsuit against the Planned Parenthood clinic in Lincoln, alleging that she almost died after a botched abortion from one of the organization's doctors. The suit stated that Roe suffered pain and suffering as well as lost wages after the abortion. Medical records filed with the court reveal that she lost 80% of her total blood volume and needed blood transfusions and a hysterectomy because of a 2 1/2- to 3-centimeter gash in her uterus. Sources familiar with the negotiations between the clinic and the Nebraska woman, stated that the parties had reached a settlement, in which an undisclosed payout resolved the suit. Roe had sought $37,000 in medical expenses, plus additional compensation for lost wages and pain and suffering.
