Washington State Reaches Settlement in Child Care Workers Class Action
This is a settlement for the Civil / Human Rights lawsuit.
Washington State has reached a settlement in a class action suit brought by 7,000 child-care providers. The lawsuit stemmed from a mass raid by the Department of Social and Health Services in 2002 on more than 50 Latina provides in Mattawa.
The financial settlement is approximately $2 million, to be divided among the 30 Mattawa child-care providers, which effectively ends the class action and damages portion of the case. However, a discrimination case against the Town of Mattawa will go ahead.
