McKesson Settles Price Inflation Suit for $350 Million
This is a settlement for the Antitrust lawsuit.
The largest distributor of medicine in the US, Mckesson Corp, has agreed to pay $350 million to settle lawsuits brought in 2005 by New England Carpenters Health Benefits Fund and other plaintiffs, which alleged the distributor conspired in inflating drug prices.
McKesson was accused of conspiring with Hearst Corp's First Databank, to increase the pharmacy and wholesaler profits. This allegedly affected costs of several major brands including Aventis Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s Allegra, Pfizer Inc.'s Celebrex and Lipitor, GlaxoSmithKline Plc's Flonase, AstraZeneca Plc's Nexium and Roche Holding AG's Valium.
