$3.5 Million Settlement Approved for Uninsured Patients
This is a settlement for the Consumer and Financial Fraud lawsuit.
A Cook County circuit judge has approved a settlement in a class action suit between patients of Advocate Health Care and the health care company. The suit alleged that the not-for-profit hospitals run by Advocate had overcharged uninsured patients.
Advocate, the largest provider of medical care in the Chicago area, operating Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn and Advocate South suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, among others, apparently sent notices out to some 170,000 former patients who may be eligible for a refund.
The total settlement has been estimated at as much as $3.5 million.
