BlueTooth Class Action Settled
This is a settlement for the Internet/Technology lawsuit.
Motorola, Plantronics and Jabra have offered to settle in a class action lawsuit that alleged the companies did not adequately warn consumers of the possible impact Bluetooth headsets could have on a person's hearing. Since the number of headset users is so great the financial compensation - $100,000 - is going to hearing-loss related charities.
Defendants will separately pay the fees and expenses the Court orders. These payments will not reduce the amount Defendants will donate to charity. Defendants will also separately pay the costs to provide notice to the Class and administer the Proposed Settlement, up to $1.2 million.
A likely result of the case will be a new spate of warning labels and stickers on any Bluetooth headset, informing customers that there might be a risk to hearing from using them.
